We have the library at basecamp (used to be "the office").  There is a small mountain of books and magazines there now.  I've been telling people that the books and magazines need to stay in the library.

I propose that that library get filled out a bit.

Well, that seems fair $125 , up to 4 benches
$175 if they are made without metal fasteners  / glues

Other bench types $75 / bench up to 4.

Note, it's not a functional bench unless Paul can sit in it.  ( doll house or children's benches are not the intent )

The more lovely, sustainable, and long term durable the better.

For a while, we offered bounties on three log benches:

https://permies.com/t/51646/log-bench

If you are considering stuff that is using dimensional lumber, i would like to suggest the buffet of interesting convert-a-bench stuff found here:

$150 for a cartoonish overall map of the lab or the non lab , eventually suitable for printing or a big poster sized trail head display board.

Along the lines of tom's suggestions, i would think a weather station at the lab and another at basecamp would be a powerful thing.

And maybe a lot more game cam stuff?

I can't give any money. But I can send a hand-knitted wool hat/ cap. Once I sent one for Paul, but it wasn't the right size for his head. But anyway I know it arrived there! So I promiss to knit a hat for:
"Any Resident to make at least one post a week about their life/work on Wheaton Labs during 3 months (September, October, November 2018  )" (Post can be text only, but I like to see some pictures or even videos now and then).
So this Ant / Boot or other Resident will get a warm woolen hat around January 2019 ... He/she can tell about the size, colour and other specifications of the hat in the posts ...
Staff note (Bill Erickson) :

Added, and thank you, Inga!

Bill, what's the next step to get Jeremy his backer funds?

What's a blog thread?
* It has a thread title that contains your first name (or pseudonym) and role at the labs, e.g. "Boot-side chats with Elvira".
* It has media post(s) about anything at the labs: people, projects, places, existing artifacts, wildcrafting, campfire butt warming, electric tractor, anything.

To be one of the qualifiers, you just need to make one post with either 3 photos or 1 video.  They don't have to be polished and edited, as long as they depict something clearly.  It's nice to say who you are, if you are comfortable with that, but it's not a requirement for this bounty.

Here's a good example post.  Here's another one.

  • $20 each --Kerry Rodgers

  • Not sure what the protocol is for claiming these rewards, but I believe I qualify for this one with my thread post at https://permies.com/t/86694/permaculture-projects/Jeremy-Ant-Village-Adventures#750700
    Staff note (Bill Erickson) :

You do indeed, Jeremy. I see you an Kerry have gotten that transaction handled.

I don't know where Bill is at currently, but I'm technically the back up person for the Biological Reverse Kickstarter.

I agree that Jeremy has met the requirements for "the next 5 residents who start or continue a blog thread in the "wheaton laboratories" forum."

I don't know how Bill planned on getting rewards from sponcer to the person who earned them. Kerry, does paypal work for you? Or would prefer sending a check to

Thanks, Jeremy!  Your video is exactly what I had in mind.  Paypal sent!!

All y'all should go look at Jeremy's thread.  He's posted a number more vids since this one, and he's making progress on several projects.

There's still 4 more folks who can qualify for this reward, 'cause it for the "next 5 residents".  Jeremy was the first, but if you've slept at Basecamp or Labs, post 3 stills or 1 vid and get $20.  You wanted to do it anyway, right?  So here's a chance to get a bonus 20 bucks.

I honestly don't know, Kerry. I'm two states away, but I would think that Paul, and maybe Bill as well, would have told the residents about this. I know Paul loves this idea, and so I'm sure he's communicated about it with the people there.

In other news, I updated the first post of this thread to note that 1/5 of the rewards have been claimed, and there are 4 left. I'm thinking that's what we do when they've been claimed?

First off, my apologies for having been absent and not following through on Kerry and Jeremy's inquiries. Special thanks to Nicole for stepping up while I've "been away" a bit.

As Kerry and Jeremy have already sorted that part out, all good on their end.

And yes, Jeremy is definitely doing some great things! Folks would be well advised to check out his stuff.

Tom, I'm sending a PM to clarify what he thinks about Paul's suggestions and getting the rest of the pledges/projects sorted and in the Wiki.

Is there a way to donate $100 to all ant villagers and $100 to all gappers/boots? I love the idea of this thread and I will be involved with the "do x thing and get x reward" concept, but first I would like to donate with no requirements. I know that means splitting the coin up amongst several people (and maybe that doesn't make sense?), but I want to encourage the awesome work you guys and gals do with no questions asked.

    Thank you

Hey all, I just updated the Wiki with a goal of the first person to get PEP1 certification - anyone interested in pledging for that one? With winter in full swing here in Montana (this year that means going from snow, to warm, to cold, to snow, to...) if folks are itching to pledge or do on this, it would be a swell thing.

So, we are starting to get some clearance of some of the pledges, we also have a bunch of great ideas without pledges for them. This latter part is where you, meaning the permies community at large, come in - I'm inviting more folks to make pledges, from money to stuff.

There are things in the Ant Love or Boot/Gapper Love threads that can be offered up from tools to Personal Protective Equipment for some of the construction/woodcraft tasks that get done.
Individual bits of clothing, hand made or not.
    Gift Cards
    Cash
    Seeds
    Books
    Video
    Music
    Unusual foods!
    Usual foods!

The only limit is your imagination and what you are willing to share.

Don't forget, don't see that "thing you want to have happen/see" on the list? Suggest it along with a pledge. Forward momentum is an awesome thing.

I just wanted to say that, if two boots finished making 90 pics/day on the same day, I would make them each a fairy/elf/figure of their choice. The same applies to two residents making 2 posts per week for 90 days and receiving a custom dragon. Just know that it might take me a few months to make everything!

    And done!!

Looks like the newest boot, Robbie, has started a "blog thread" with pictures!   Give the man $20!  @Bill, can you set it up?

    Welcome to the forums, Robbie!

I believe I qualify for the post a picture for 30 days boot reward.
I have the same thoughts as Jeremy, I don't know the protocol in claiming a bounty, so I posted here.

I'm thinking that posting here, or PMing Bill Erickson (or both) is probably the best way to go. It's kind of like dinging the bell at the cash register .

I'm technically the back-up person for the Biological Reverse Kickstarter, but I didn't collect anyone's information or know how to contact them (though I'm sure I could figure it out if something drastic happened with Bill). Anyway, if you haven't heard back from Bill in a day or two, bump this thread and I'll see what I can do.

I received an email from Nichole and have been working on getting Akhu his bounties - which I have emailed him about. I'm currently on a road gig, so my apologies for being slow to respond.

Paypal is giving me some bureaucratic BS which I have to wait through prior to transferring fundage. Please be patient.

This is cool to see folks doing awesome things and documenting it for everyone and getting bounties for it on top of it all. I'm still hoping to see the test Moon Gate finished, I may have to do add some fundage there.

I'm hearing this a lot lately.  If people have other payment transfer ideas, please suggest.

This has gone pretty well, with 4 awarded so far.   I don't want it to end! There are still two slots open in the boot program, and possibly more people will be having a stay at the Labs once the weather gets warmer.  So I want to recharge this bounty by  adding 5 more instances of it to the bounty list.

If you're new to all this, look at the top post on page one of this tread for details.  Note that this is one of the few bounties that can be done on your first day at Wheaton Labs, and even by short-term residents.
