The more gardening you do now, the sooner the world will be saved.

I've been giving small potted plants that are easy to take care of to people who have never tried gardening. It seems to help convert them.

Gardening is my favourite, because it addresses just about all of the big issues currently facing us:

A weak sense of community? Start a garden where your neighbours can see. You've got a good conversation starter, and you'll quickly find people who are also gardeners to chat with!

Worried about the amount of fossil fuels used to get your food to you? Start growing some of your own a little bit at a time, and lower that footprint.

Worried about food security? Start a garden and start growing some of your own food and worry less.

Worried about all the deforestation that goes on to fuel large scale agriculture? Start a garden and reduce your reliance on industrial agriculture.

Worried about humanity's negative effect on the planet? Learn about building soil, and start gardening to heal your little patch of Earth!

Want to actively be part of building an alternative to our current set of arrangements? Start a garden!!

And so on and so forth...

I'd love to make this into an epic meme...anyone have suggestions for backgrounds? Here's what I have so far--I'd love more ideas!

I just realized the title of the thread is part of the quote!

I'm still not happy with the fonts for the one with Paul in it, but I can't seem to find a better font. Fonts are hard!

Cool memes! I'm in the process of transitioning from my current garden to some new place, yet unknown to me... I remember a documentary about someone doing gardening in war zones, to help heal and rebuild local communities, and frequently moving from one place to another to start all over again. I like the idea of being on the move and leaving fertile gardens behind!

I think I like this one the best! (it was fun adapting one of the old Victory Garden posters for this!)

A variation ...

World problems will be solved by millions of gardeners before it will be solved by billions of people being angry at bad guys.

Nicole I find the the last poster most appealing.  I'm not trying to be negative, I really like it, but I wonder if it makes it more the gardeners will save the world instead of the " garden". Just thinking the average Joe who hasn't grown a garden before isn't going to consider themselves a " Gardener". So maybe the message of everyone saving the world by growing a garden gets lost.  Just a thought, I hope you don't take offense, because I only wish to help.

I work in a grocery store.  When ever I get an opening, I talk to people about gardening, and lack of nutrition in our veggies ect.  Yesterday a man bought some zucchini. He was a friendly sort, so I told him how easy they are to grow in our area, and produce a lot.  If you use good organic soil, and compost they will be more nutritious, and taste better too.  He may have been just being nice, but I got the feeling he will plant some zucchini.  Gardeners  are the easy ones because most of us love to talk about our gardens. I figure even that is beneficial because we share info, and others in line are exposed not only to the information, but to the joy of gardening.
I'm not very computer savvy, so if you make any of these into memes, please tell me how to find them, and I will send it to everyone I know.  Thanks for your hard work and dedication 🤗
