I'm hoping we get to the stretch goal as I would LOVE to do the apprenticeship course, it looks fantastic. I also love the idea of a bunch of us backers scattered across the globe all woodworking away as a result of this. Thanks Permies

I has just crossed my mind to simply add the last $$$ myself though!  :-D

Just a few inches away from 40k  ....

and we are currently at 998 backers!  I guess that means that the average backer is backing at $40 on the nose.

This means that everybody that is currently backing the kickstarter at $100 or now gets, in addition to all the other stuff ...

Details here!

And now for the magic sauce for my kickstarters:  the big, big, big hope that:

  - a whole bunch of current backers will raise their backer level, and

  - a whole bunch of people that have not backed yet will now back!

These two things combined will, if everything works, carry us, quickly through this stretch goal and (hope, hope, hope) onto the next!

With the Soil First Gardening Video by Anna Hess as a potential goodie for the $100 and up backers, I cant totally see why!

Just want to point out -

The shaving horse in the Greenwood Apprentice video (stretch goal going to $100-and-up backers) is a lot like the one Mike Haasl made for the Low Tech Lab movie!

So, maybe I'm blind but... Are there plans for the rocket forge?

That video is a great demonstration of how a shaving horse is used.   It is so adjustable and grabs the wood just the way he wants it.

I got to watch a little when Mike Haasl made the shaving horse Wheaton Labs this summer.   It looked to me like he just pulled branches and logs out of the forest.

Then he set to work making this functional piece of art.

It is a beautiful artifact.
When you see it in person, you kind of have to walk up to it and touch it.

YIKES!

The earlybird bonuses are almost gone!  Don't miss out on these amazing bonuses.  They can be yours for as little as $1.  Can't decide how much to back?  Do $1 now and decide your final amount later!  Yay for procrastination!

The rocket forge and kiln are pretty much the same thing.  We just fiddled with a "door" to make it so we can push metal in and out.

Just one more crazy question about the kiln/forge thing.  If a person could hypothetically get a hold of a crucible and some tongs, could it also be used as a metal melting furnace for casting aluminum?  Does it get hot enough for that?

That was in the original design, and I do believe we're reaching those temps.  I am not sure we have tested it in crucible mode, functionally speaking.

In the free heat movie, the prototype melted a bunch of aluminum in a crucible and I got a "W" out of the deal.  Surely there are pics somewhere.
