This week, the Holzer Agroecology team will be joining us to answer our questions about Sepp Holzer's techniques, his books and much more.

There are up to two tickets to the Montana or California workshop with Sepp Holzer up for grabs.

Members of the team will be popping into the forum over the next few days answering questions and joining in discussions. Some of the best questions will be translated and Sepp Holzer himself will reply to them.

Monday through Friday, any posts in this forum, ie the earthworks forum, could be selected to win.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up in Paul's daily-ish email..

The winners will be notified by email and must respond within 24 hours.

Posts in this thread won't count, but please feel free to say hi to the Holzer Agroecology team and make them feel at home!

Fantastic that you're giving away a couple of tickets! I found the 11 days with Sepp last spring absolutely life-changing and am deeply engrossed in planning a Holzer Permaculture project currently! Whether I win the ticket or not, I certainly will be there in Loma Mar! Cheers all!

I have finally found where I belong. I have always been this type of person, but never fit in anywhere. I would love to feed my love for a sustainable lifestyle/way of life by entering to win the tickets to see the Holzer workshop. Thank You Paul for bringing Sepp Holzers informative way of life to all of us.

My area experienced 8" of rain in one day, which caused major flooding. I've heard that there is a way to help with preventing flooding damage by building ponds and lakes. My property is on the mountain. What is the best way to build a pond with overflow protection to minimize damage down the mountain in the valley?

I'm planning on attending the event in CA - even dragging James. It'd be great to win so that he can actually come and listen rather than chauffeur me about and rely on my notes, poor lad!

Welcome Sepp and team; thanks for making the effort to share your time and knowledge, and keep this movement fueled.

As always, thanks Paul, Jocelyn, and team for fighting the good and worthwhile fight.

Welcome Sepp and team. Looking forward to the MN workshop. I'd love to make it to another one as well! I'll have access to new land in the fall and it needs a great plan!

Thanks so much Paul for all your wonderful work putting together Permies.com and all the dedicated people living the permaculture life. Welcome Sepp to Loma Mar where I will be attending your workshop.
I live on Maui's south/southwest side where from sea level to 10,000 ft. is lined with cindercones. Most of the time is very dry. So the landscape is steep with loads of volcanic cinder. Highly erodible when no grass (kuyu mostly) is not growing. A lot of open land and people who do live there have little or no county water. I have Sepp's books and DVD and now realize that I can do permaculture with just the rainwater. Will do swales, huglekultur, but ponds are difficult as so much cinder and little clay. Am going to do without liners. When digging into the earth, as soon as the grass is removed major erosion happens. Common in Hawaii. I'll be working on various friends acreages and also gorilla planting as there is so much open land on this part of Maui. Will be working on one acreage (about 6 acres) that I want to be an example site so others in the area can see that food forests can be created with just the rainwater. Stop the water wars! This site is at about 3,000 ft. elevation. Average rainfall varies greatly, but I'll say around 20 inches/year, although in the past 10 months on this site there was 2 inches. Briefly, that's my situation. Any feedback is much appreciated. The workshop is going to be awesome.
Thank you so much Sepp for visiting this area and spreading your incredible wisdom and presence. I have learned so much from you already. Definitely life changing. Hoping Paul will be attending also. Mahalo and Aloha.

What a wonderful thing to give away free tickets! I guess the Duluth workshop is full - I seriously considered it - but if I won I'd find my way to beautiful Montana.

So I ran the pick winner app. It showed my ten random posts from the last few days. One was by Zach - who is already going. One did not meet the naming requirements. So that leaves eight.

First pick .... not in daily-ish email.

That leaves seven.

Second pick .... qualifies!

Congratulations

Victor Johanson

I will be sending you an email. You will have 24 hours to respond and tell me the email address of the person that referred you to permies.com. If that person qualifies, you will each be getting a ticket.

Wow--I never win anything, so I wasn't even trying! This is awesome. Glad I checked my email; I'm in Hawaii on vacation--looks like I'll be forced to take another one soon! I'm a huge fan and have read the books and watched the videos. I expect this will be a fantastic opportunity to get some insights on how to proceed on the 48 acres of land we've bought here near Fairbanks. Sweet!

We said Sepp was going to answer some questions. Turns out our translator got sick and could not translate the questions for Sepp. However, we will make sure the questions get to Sepp as soon as possible so that he can at least pop on the forum.
