Hey guys, I am thinking about launching a kick starter at the end of the month to fund the equipment needed to build a test stand and film multiple solar direct pumping options. My thought on deliverables other than the actual movie would be a white paper on all of the different pump options with wattage, inrush current, flow rates at different heads with several controllers and solar inputs, as well as, if there was enough interest, a live webinar to review all of the results and teach people how to properly select and size a pump, solar panels, and controllers given different sources, distances, and piping options.

It would cost about $2400 to get all of the equipment to test 7 pump and two controller options, and I figure stretch goals could be adding more pump styles, adding in line boosters, adding pressure tanks and switches, etc.  I suppose id list it at 2700 so i net about 2400 after fees and such.

What do yall think about that and what pumps would you suggest we start with?  Right now ive got two eco worthy, a sureflo, a seaflow, and a few harbor freight/tractor supply pumps on the list.

i  have been running my pump for over 8 years on solar.       If you have a high static level mine is at 40 foot, then this pump is a winner..

I prefer 120v pump  because I can run it off my van with an inverter if I had to, or any gen.       It pulls about 800 - 900 watts for me and my inverters deal with it just fine.

Thanks for the info Mart!  And awesome wood chip stockpile!

For this KS Im planning to go super cheap so a 120V pump requiring a charge controller, inverter, battery, etc is likely not in the cards, although I may keep this in mind for a larger stretch goal.  Im planning on running this on scrap romex, a $50 used solar panel, a linear current booster, and pumps under $200 if I can.  A future iteration may be 120V pumps but this project would be focused on solar direct.  I googled that pump and it was on ebay for under $100 so Ill definately keep that in mind,.  Thanks again!

Anyone have any pump ideas that I should include in the test?

I can see the excitement is overwhelming for my kickstarter.  I think Im going to launch on June 9th after reviewing all the KS requirements.

I dont know if Ill hit any "stretch goals" but for every step up I get Ill test additional pumps or longer distances or more height and maybe even adding pressure and/or booster tanks.

We are funded.  Now there is no risk for completion.  Ill be posting stretch goals on Friday.  We will be covering submersible well pumps as well as transfer and jet pumps.  96 configurations, at multiple head heights and distances.

We just hit our first stretch goal of $7,000.  I want to send a special anonymous thanks to the person who following my link and backed the project.  I was concerned that for all the talk about permies and crowdfunding I would strike out but I ended up with one backer from this site so that's a win!

Hey yall, two days only, funding ends tomorrow.  We are nearing the $12k mark, and if we hit $13K we add on Paul's ponds video to all backers over $70.

Help us get the word out!  Thanks in advance

5 hours to go, we have hit all published stretch goals.  This is the only way to ever get access to this content, I wont distribute it beyond the kickstarter backers so If you are interested this is your last shot to throw a $20 at the project to get the streaming level (or $70 to get all the perks and a thumb drive of the movie)
