I fried an egg in lamb tallow in a cast-iron skillet!
This one was actually pretty tricky; a couple of tries I used too much fat and let it get too hot.
I'm glad to have had this little push towards overcoming my unfamiliarity with cast-iron cooking. I hope I showed enough "sliding;" It didn't stick or leave a lot to clean up, so I'm satisfied as a cook, but I'll understand if it doesn't quite reach Wheaton-standard cast-iron proficiency.

I fried an egg on cast iron for your viewing amusement. I then wiped the pan clean with a paper towel.

Video of egg frying (I didn't quite get the pan hot enough at the start, so the cooking drags on a little...sorry about that):


And I end up with a pan that needs to be wiped and has a little salt left behind:

Here’s my submission for the sliding egg bb. I did not realize I could use a spatula to slide the egg until AFTER I finished cooking and reviewed the requirements while I ate.
For cleaning, I simply wiped out the warm (but not quite hot) grease and leftover bits with a clean, dry hand towel. There were a couple caked on flecks that easily came off when I scratched them with my finger nail. I used no water.

I fried an egg so Slippery, it could only be Served with Sorrel and Swiss on Sourdough (plus mayo and other mixed greens to round out the flavor). I fried the egg in bacon grease, poured the leftover grease into a ramekin for later use, and wiped the skillet out.

Doing the egg test, I learned that I've been trying to cook too early in my cast iron pan. The sizzle test was very helpful and I managed to cook eggs then French toast without sticking. I'm hopeful that this means I can ditch my toxic no-stick pan from now on.

Photos show the pan before and after I wiped the excess food and oil off with a rag to clean it. I then set it aside to cool.

This was a new one for me, I had no idea this was a thing! Also thanks for getting me to try a new style of egg. I think this might be my new favorite way to prepare them!

Here's the egg frying. I went a bit overboard on the butter, and most of it ended up burning before I even got the second egg in. I also went a bit overboard on the shaking for the second one... But it still tasted nice. Just something to keep in mind next time I fry an egg.
