Hi, looking to expand my garden and have had issues with diseases in the past. Just need some experienced input and instructions, I feel pretty confident in actually doing the work. Has anybody used this service or anything like it? https://www.useabe.com/

Hi L. I had never heard of the site you linked, so I clicked it and looked around. At present it only offers a waitlist option, right? That's what I saw. My first thought in reply to you, before I ever clicked the link, was this - I have managed my own real estate as well as real estate for others. I have hired a lot of contractors and got a lot of advice over the years. I am NOT an expert on gardening, even though I've been gardening for over 40 years. All this to form a foundation for what I'm about to say - If you have to pay in advance for someone you don't know to talk to you on video chat it is not likely to be worth it. It's hard enough to get good advice from experts and advisors in person in real life. However, you are on Permies.com. You are in a place where experts abound. I am serious. You can ask specific questions for free, and buy courses, and you can make some trusted connections in the process. Honestly, why would you want a site like the one you linked?  You have everything you need (and way more than any of us could actually ever need) here in the Permies forums. Best wishes for a fun and rewarding gardening education and happy gardening life!

Hi again, L. What I should have asked you is where are you located?  Didn't see it on your profile yet. When other people see your location they can respond to your question about garden pests based on your location. Location is the secret of getting good gardening answers here.

L Simmons, welcome to the forum.

I am sorry I did not click on your link. Can you tell me what is that service?

If I understand things correctly having healthy soil will eliminate problems with disease and pests.

I would like to recommend Dr. Bryant Redhawk's Soil series:

These are some threads that I feel will be helpful to you or others:

And this one about balancing fungi and bacteria:

Thanks so much for the response! I think it is waitlist only, I heard about it from a friend and wanted to see what others thought first. That is definitely a good point about this website being good. My main reason I was interested was for a quick turn around. It looks like this post got some replies pretty quickly though. I am in central Minnesota, USA.  I am new to posting on here (and on forums in general). I'll need to take a look at my profile to figure out the set up. I have been a lurker here for awhile, excited to be apart of a pretty cool community! Thanks for the feedback about resources. Happy gardening to you as well!

Oh, L, I am a newly-reformed lurker here, just learning most of what I shared with you. Permie gardeners usually include the USDA Ag Zone for their exact location when asking or answering questions and even on their profiles. That helps readers know how to reply. Whenever you’re ready, since it’s wintery now where you live, why not start a forum thread asking for help fending off garden pests in your zone? Meaning, put your zone number in the title of your thread. That way folks in the tropics won’t jump in to offer help. Only people in your zone who deal with your same gardening issues will speak up.

From this, Abe, sounds similar to what was Angie's list except based for
Minneapolis pros:

I am all for using free services like Angi except those are not available where I live:

I hope you found some of the links I posted above useful.
