Does Anyone Grow Wild Plums In The High Desert?

I've been on a mission to find real hardy trees & plants to grow. After looking around, I've decided to take a shot at growing 3 types of Chickasaw plums. I bought 1 regular Chickasaw on eBay & another 2 cultivars, Guthrie & Odoma from Mail - Order Natives. They are about 4' x .5" and only $10.00 each. I'm aware of the suckering habit of the standard Chickasaw & figured I would plant it at the seasonal creek for wildlife. I'm betting on the rabbits to keep it in check.
Anyone else in the high desert grow these things?

Krauter Vesuvius plums are commonly used in landscaping in Albuquerque. They seem to like the climate there, I remember being there in July once and seeing many trees with lots of fruit on them.

I would note that the ones I saw were part of irrigated landscapes. I'm sure that makes it easier on them than the normal 10" of precip that Albuquerque gets.
