Hi, my name's Chad. I just joined in with permies.com

I'm looking for groups and organization that want to transform their suburban landscape to reflect permaculture principles or join in with a group trying to fund and establish a Social Permaculture Master Planned Community.

Is there anything on this site or anywhere else that's crowdfunding or investing in making this happen on a large scale? Thanks for any information. I'm in Longwood, FL, north Orlando.

Chad, welcome to the forum!

Are you looking to start something like this community:

Village Homes

I am sure there are others and maybe even some in Florida.

You might try searching for something like "Eco-friendly communities".

I would also post in the permies.com regional forum "Southern USA"

Thanks, John for the suggestions.

Your wish is granted as I have added the topic to the "Southern Forum".

Hi there!  I would love to help my community work toward more resilience , but I do not feel qualified as I would not know where to start.  There are not many live resources in this neck of the woods so we would really benefit from some!

Hello Mary,
I would start by reading the forums here that talk about things that you are interested in doing.  There are regional forums here at permies, where you could post and chat with people in your area.  Most people are happy to answer questions.  I have found that when I go into a small town, there are usually people who can connect you with others who are working on projects.  I would try the mayor, churches, the granges, permaculture groups, biodynamic groups or farms nearby, or even attending community events at schools nearby.  In rural areas, schools are sometimes the hub of the area, and people will know people who you can talk to.  If you are in a suburban area, you could see if there are community gardens nearby.  If you talk to a local government or even a library, they should be able to point you to resources about helping the community.

Thank you for your suggestions!  There are no permaculture groups on Facebook, but I will check here.  I will also check with the wildlife preserve that is closest, and try to see the Mayor.  Thanks for giving me some direction; I am very excited to see what comes of it!

This guy has some pretty good ideas and solutions. He might be answering some of your questions.  I met him a few years ago, while we were making presentations about permaculture.   He does a lot of work on transforming into sustainable solutions.
