Biography
We manage a 40 acre wildlife area of the Texas Hill Country in the Edwards Plateau at about 3030 ft above sea level. The region is notable for its karst topography and tall rugged hills of limestone. The terrain throughout the region is punctuated by a thin layer of topsoil and a large number of exposed rocks and boulders, making the region very dry and prone to flash flooding. Native vegetation in the region includes various yucca, prickly pear cactus, native grasses and wildflowers. The predominant trees in the region are Ashe Juniper, Shin Oak and Texas Live Oak. Soil is alkaline consisting of caliche and clay.

It is possible to do just that with your own financial institution and on your own.

Due diligence and discipline when it come to money.

If you started with $5.00 a week when you were in your twenties just how much money would you have today?

Do you plan to slice the bread before dehydrating it?

Then store the sliced loaf or store the slices?

I do not know about hydration levels or how to keep dehydrated bread chewy.

Here is a thread that folks might find interesting:

Speaking of nutritious bread, I read that the Pepperidge Farm brand bread was created when a mother was looking for a nutritious brad for her child.

jason holdstock wrote:Many say they would love a bit more land to be more self sufficient, maybe 5 acres and up?

If you lived in an area where everyone had 5 acres, would walking and cycling everywhere be possible since everything would have to be spread out?

So does individual land ownership push you towards vehicle ownership?

This would depend on businesses in the area.  Where would the nearest grocery store be?

I live where most folks have 60 acres or more.  The nearest grocery store is 30 miles.

As for being self sufficient, how many folks on the forum have achieved that status?

From what I have read on the forum, I got the impression that electric vehicles were the permie way to go.  Am I wrong?

Your location says Spain and West Africa and I have not idea what are good brand for that area.

Do Toyota and Subaru have good value there?

Are there any vehicle manufactured there?

Welcome to the forum!

What kind of free material do you have access to?

I like the suggestion of using mushrooms.

That is a pretty ambitious list of projects.

Bamboo sound like it is perfect for some of those.

Why not pick your favorite that will work with bamboo and tackle that one first.

Let us know how that turned out ...

I agree with Carla about growing what you like to eat.

Grow what is easy for you.

I grew eggplant one year because it is sometimes used as a meat substitute in recipes.

I did not know it was going to be so prolific and I could not find a way to cook it that I liked.
I have loved learning about RMH and would love to have one.

If only I lived in a bigger house...

I guess I could get some #5 cans and fashion one out in the yard though that would only be a rocket stove.

I would love to hear how the market garden did over summer and fall?

The garden looked like it was off to a good start...
