We've posted this video here before, but I specifically want to create a thread dedicated to this guy and his borneo project.
Here is the starting point: after three years, his permaculture-esque efforts have increased the rainfall in the area 20%! He has created permanent jobs for the local folks. He has solved all sorts of problems. All on a huge scale.
My hat is off to this guy.
Bio
Willie Smits is a forestry engineer, microbiologist, conservationist, animal activist and social entrepreneur. For over thirty years Smits has been working for reforestation and the conservation of endangered primate species such as the orangutan. He is currently using sustainable agriculture, reforestation, and forest monitoring to reforest more than 500,000 acres of degraded tropical rainforest.
