January and February 2016, wanna come by?

I am talking to jocelyn, cassie, evan, sharla and kai about stuff that might happen here for january and february.

I am thinking that there are lots of folks that would be interested in come out for a couple of nights to experience running and basking in the glow of a rocket mass heater. Plus maybe a tour.

I think there might be other folks that like the idea of getting together with a dozen permies and trying their hand at some permie-like things.

I'm in the "lock in your prices now" camp, if any. The tipi and Allerton Abbey would be my picks.

Man, that sounds like a blast. I'd be there for sure, if I could earn enough points with the wife (leaving her alone with the kids is a lot to ask). When they're bigger, it'll be more feasible. In the meantime, I hope this happens so I can enjoy it vicariously.

In other news: Evan told me he is interested in working with others to get a bunch of pep1 stuff done. So it seems like there could be a pep1 gathering to flesh out the pep1 program and start creating the artifacts for pep1.

Are children allowed?

I think supervised children have always been allowed. If your child is eaten by a mountain lion, then I guess your child was not supervised. And if your child comes to me crying, I promise to introduce your child to anything that will make me laugh when you get pissed about it. Porn is the first thing that comes to mind.

Maybe it would be cool to set up events with kids and without kids.

I like the idea that if we have 30 or 40 people that wanna come out for different scenarios, then ants can open up to the idea of facilitating such a thing. As is, they are concerned that if they take on a scenario that it is possible that nobody will wanna come. Or that people don't wanna come in the winter. I think that for the next few years we will get far more people coming in the winter just because they will want to experience rocket mass heater stuff and, later, ATI stuff.

Hmmmm .... maybe that should be a whole nuther aspect. Maybe there could be a bit of kickstarter-like thing for videos of something like this. Maybe somebody like sharla could say that if she raises $1000 then she would make a video of the thing.

Maybe another aspect is to provide tools/toys to be seen through this vicarousness?

I like this. I feel like there is a major lack of permaculture courses focusing on what you can do with your land/time/resources during a cold snowy winter. A course centered around permaculture projects that can be accomplished despite a few feet of snow on the ground.

For the worriers- Winter is an ideal time for farmers to visit. During the growing season I couldn't leave for a week. Maybe a day will come when I have really awesome long term wwoofers, maybe when my kids are old enough they'll run the place for me while I go gallivanting around, but for now I'm needed here. I bet I'm not the only farmer like that. Us farmers tend to not have lots of travel cash on hand, important consideration too, but we'd bring our kids to Wheaton Labs before we brought them to Disney, that's for sure.

Winter is a slower, cozier time. Tea and property design dreaming.

We permie homeschoolers still tromp around outside most of the time even in winter.
