podcasts and videos on the jump drive

Okay, I shelled out a rather enormous amount of money and purchased 100 jump drives. Plus I sent a memory card and the data is being copied to the jump drives. Soon the jump drives will arrive.

44 people said they would shell out $60 for this. Now is the time to pony up. Please send $60 via paypal to paul at richsoil.com. Make sure that your paypal address is set right - cuz that's the address I plan on using.

This contains all of my podcasts and videos, 70 of Jack's podcasts and a gigabyte sized video, plus all of tall paul's podcasts.

India .... how reliable is your mail? Oh my - I didn't think about shipping to india. If you could add in ten bucks, that would be helpful.

I know that I have sent stuff to India before and it seems like there is a 40% chance that the package will never get there.

India is paranoid about transactions they can't monitor so last I heard, Paypal was illegal or blocked here. Anyway, you're right about the Indian klepto-postal system so I'll have a friend purchase it for me in the US and save it till I visit.

Yup! I had to pay for 100 of them. And 44 people said they would buy them. So I will have 56 extras to sell over time.

Yes. It is all on a jump drive: the podcasts (audio) as well as Paul's fine collection of videos.
I'm not on dial-up, but my internet connection is so 'iffy' that this will be a great way for me to utilize my times when the internet is down. Plus, having the entire collection in one place will be a great help as well.

How is gumroad different from scubbly.

The issue of the moment is a physical product. It sounds like gumroad does not fit that. So I am really confused at how you think it fits.

The audio files are all mp3.

The video files are a mix of formats - but they are what was uploaded to youtube.

Most paypal folks have an address set up with paypal. That is what we will use.

Hi Paul - do the "unlimited rights" to use the podcasts still stand? How about the videos included on the PODS? I ask because I would be interested in using some as additional resources in a PDC. And what about the earthworks DVDs - could I show these to a class? Let me know what's kosher. I await your word, cash in hand, to determine my pledge on the kickstarter.

Thanks for asking that question, Jen - I'd love to do the same, given the amount of knowledge packed in that doodad.

The idea is that all of this content has been provided for free at some point. But people have crappy internet. So if you find somebody that would like it and you have the drive in your hand, you can give them a copy. Or, you can give them the drive and tell them to make a copy and pass the drive on.

I don't want to see people offering copies on via the internet. All of this is already available on the internet.

I don't mind somebody saying "I have the golden ticket and you can come to my house and get it all."

I don't mind somebody selling their drive on ebay or the like - complete with the unlimited distribution license.

I am wired in a weird way. I feel I need to be respectful to many people involved in this and my own sense of what is "right". So I would have to say that whoever hold the jump drive can give away copies face-to-face. Therefore, a person that is NOT holding the jump drive is NOT allowed to give away copies (however, they are naturally encouraged to tell people about where they can get those same materials on the internet).

With regards SPECIFICALLY to the Earthworks DVD set, could I show them as part of a PDC course. Some vids have licenses limiting them to public showings only if they are FREE events OR they have a different license that one must purchase to show it to ANY outside audience.

When in doubt about these things, I always ask. For instance - I would be able to use Geoff's video on Food Forests as part of a PDC without further licensing. However, I would NOT be able to use the videos he created for his online PDC as part of my PDC. This is the distinction I'm looking for because I respect the amount of work and energy that has gone into these products. I want to respect the creator's intention surrounding their use.

I think that for anything on the jump drive, it can be shared with an audience. Just as you can watch any of the youtube videos to an audience. People have sent me pictures showing my youtube videos being shown in university classes. fine by me.

As for the earthworks DVD, I would like to ask that you ask that in the thread about that.
