thats a great idea! never heard the term before. I like to pick up peoples old pool ladders to use as easy portable fence hoppers. most of the time they just give them away. is that electric fence or is it just the lighting that makes it look like poly rope? I have never seen field fence style electric netting.

Yes, its poly wire and comes in different configurations. We use it in our browsing business. We use one that has every other wire grounded because the goats hooves insulate them from the ground in our dry summers. So by touching 2 wires, one positive and one negative, they still get a shock. I like the stile-think I'll build one.

thank for the info. I didn't know there were so many options now with the electric fencing.
paul- is it turning out to be fairly stable? did you do anything to preserve the wood or is it made of a species that weathers well?
You should have a gentle man helping a lady of the stile victorian style in the pic, it would be fun anyway it woudl help to really see the stile being used but it is not really necessary. What about some lowerable wheels on it. Is it for men? the spaces between step and step seem a bit big.
It is a great foto it is more fun with someone crossing it. Love it. rose.

I started an Appropedia "stub" page on portable fence stiles - stub meaning that it's just a couple of useful links and a very brief intro to the subject. It would be great if anyone was inspired to add to it, so it can grow into a full and detailed article. Just click "edit" and add - you don't even have to register!
