As we are learning more about permaculture we are discovering that we have been practicing permaculture methods and did not realize it. We called it natural living or simple living.
We have read Mother Earth News since its beginning in the late 70's although current trends with this magazine would probably lead it more to yuppie living than permaculture. IMHO this magazine has done a 180 on the principles it began with.
We also read CountrySide magazine which is a little better.
Are there any magazines that any of you read that are more permaculture based?

I really like the Permaculture Activist, it's a permie magazine for the U.S. and often has articles by people you'll meet in the permaculture movement, and more locally based (or north carolina based, but closer than UK). They also tell you what topics/issues are coming up so that people can contribute to the topic.
The Permaculture Magazine is nice, but it's based in the U.K., so I get more out of reading the Activist.
and then there's some even more local fun stuff that is often in a good permaculturist's kitchen. Yes magazine, and Seattle Tilth newsletter, to name a few.

Permaculture Magazine is the best, I think.
Countryside is good. It's an all volunteer magazine.
Small Farm today is good - massive resources!
Backwoods has had some articles that I really, really liked.
Acres USA has some excellent stuff, but some of the reporting at the beginning is really more of an editorial.
If anybody has any grazing animals, I would subscribe to the stockman grass farmer journal.

Permaculture is about sustainable living. Backwoods has had some articles that do a helluva lot in that direction. I'm thinking in particular about adding thermal mass to a wood stove: there has been an ocean of basic, simple things in that space that any permaculture person would enjoy.
