I just now figured out that we don't have a thread for MUD!

My lawn care article started off as a how to I wrote for the MUD Project back in 1994 or so.  When the web came along I pushed it out to the web.  Since there wasn't much stuff on the web back then, it got a lot of traffic.

I recently led a hugelkultur workshop through MUD.

They have a kickass tool library that seems to have evolved to being the primary function of MUD.

All of their stuff is at http://mudproject.ning.com/

We have learned a lot from MUD & the tool library is such a wonderful idea!

I just heard that nobody is allowed to work at mud for more than a year.  That seems odd.

Can anybody confirm that?

I took a great workshop at MUD at the beginning of the season on starting a garden. One thing we touched on that I was a little confused about was exactly what the "lasagna" method of creating a bed entails. I know you use cardboard and compost and layer them directly over the weeds and soil. Do you plant above the cardboard? How long must you wait for it to deteriorate? If someone could explain in a bit more detail I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
