What's your opinion of emptying the contents of a bagless vaccum outside on a lawn?

No "Carpet Fresh" junk
Mostly dog fur (from 3 dogs=TONS) and dust
Carpet not "shedding" a ton (not like new carpet fuzballs)

I'm sure some carpet fibers are still in there, and they may not break down like the fur, but will a little bit kill the dirt?

I've done it a couple times (rather than making a mess emptying it into the garbage...DUSTY!  I don't let it stay as one big glob that will smother the grass, and it seems to disappear fairly quickly.

I got the idea after brushing the shedding dogs outside and watching the furballs swirl around and land in the grass and thinking:  "No, I don't need to pick that up, either a bird will use it for a nest or it will break down and put some OM into my poor dirt."  Well my wife's insane vacuuming fills up the cup full of dog fur just about every time it's used and I thought:  "Why the heck not, more organic material, right?"

Thought I'd put the question to the group:  "What do you think?"

Thanks for your opinion!

I think it should be fine.

The dog hair is high in nitrogen - the primary fertilizer grass needs.  It is also organic matter.

I think your concerns about what else might be coming off the carpet are good/valid concerns.  But I can't think of anything too bad there.
