So, I have recently acquired some JA tubers, and I was wondering how to store them till I can plant them in spring. Anybody know?

I found this link to be very helpful: http://www.reneesgarden.com/articles/3sisters.html

Minimum bed size is 10x10, yields will depend on your area and a lot of other factors
Anytime, happy to help. I'm no expert, I just paid attention in Boy Scouts and read some foraging books. I recommend Steve Brill. His stuff seemed the most relevant for this area.

The wild garlic is kinda halfway between an onion flavor and a garlic flavor; I like them.

I know there are a lot of things that are easy to find around here... Ramps, daylilies, dandelion, wild garlic, acorns, walnuts, curly dock, burdock, lady's thumb, hickory nuts, apples, clover, jewel weed, mayapple (though I have yet to find one in the correct growing conditions to fruit. Also, take notice that the ripe fruit is the only edible part of this plant, the rest is poison), blackberries and black raspberries, elderberry, strawberries, roses, mint, milkweed, service berries, salsify (took me forever to figure out what the "giant dandelions" were, lol), thistles, wood sorrel, Solomon's seal (though my scoutmaster told me to leave it alone cause it's rare) staghorn sumac... It's a long list and I'm sure I left out a lot. Happy hunting!

So, related question here:

I am looking to build a small wofati I only plan to live in 1-5 years. The idea is something I can build extremely cheaply and save some money to get the land I want while gaining some experience building this type of home. Would using polyethelene on this be okay given the short term occupancy? If not, I will see what I can find on these re-purposing places

Yeah, I'm planing on using this stuff below grade. Above grade I will use clay plastered straw bales set into round wood framing. Think of it as an improved hobbit house.

I just read it on Wikipedia (I know, forgive my source sins!)

Anyways, the whole bacteria thing could matter, I mean, I would imagine it could lead to odor or contaminated soil around the house.

I actually changed my plans to be a bit simpler. The new plan is half bermed on the south side tapering toward the north entrance. Do the bermed portion with earthship tires and insulate above grade with strawbale. This will be more conducive to lighting the home and it will make my potential water problems go away.

However, either of these materials (pending the whole bacteria question) may still work well to insulate the earth roof, so I won't waste the info!

Thanks much! The foam glass looks pretty promising! What I looked into about the mineral wool says it's prone to bacteria when wet.
