Yesterday we notice we were missing a baby goat .yesterday morning we also seen some Bob cat tracks at the end of our road. In the evening we saw cougar tracks down by the animal padocks.so we are now in the process of making a secure padock for the goats, since they has been free ranging.

Here is a small solar system we got to use in place if our gas generator. Its not a huge one . Just big enough to run small things like a tv, charge cell phones, or small lights that you can also buy with the system. They have a lot of accessories you can get but we only got the lights an portable speakers. And they both work great! They are from a company called goal zero.

Great Photos, and best wishes on this new adventure!

I design and install solar electric systems for a living, and I can report that for small systems -- especially where portability might be important -- Goal Zero products are excellent quality. I wouldn't use their stuff to create larger systems to run a house year-round, but their products are excellent, and they don't overstate their capabilities like some companies do. Good Choice!!!

BTW: For any Permies that want assistance on off-grid solar design or sizing, feel free to contact me with questions -- I'm happy to help folks make good choices (at no charge or obligation) whenever I can fit it around my schedule.

The land looks beautiful!

I think that linseed oil will make the shakes last longer.

Oops, gotta love the GPS.

I like the chickens in the trees. Watch out, because it can be difficult to convince them to sleep in a shelter once they get used to the tree thing. A friend of mine had her chickens fall, frozen, from the tree branches once winter really set in.
