From time to time, I notice people saying that steep slopes limit your options with permaculture. Often steep land is cheaper and more affordable, with apparently good reason. Having bought some cheap steep land myself, prior to knowing much about permaculture I know how easy it is to get discouraged by those who say steep land is only good for zone 5 type forests. I think there are ways to develop steep slopes, while working with nature, using natural systems and stacking functions. In terms of potential energy, steep lands offer far greater potential then gently sloping land, and the Krameterhof is a good example of that. Permaculture turns limitations into opportunities.

My wife and I bought our five and a half acres for a very reasonable price. Problem is that most of the land is sloped, so I have to learn how to work with and overcome any related challenges. Thanks for the post.
