I made this one at the PEP1 event from a tree Paul cut down. Knots were deliberately located in the club part for durability. Size was suggested by Fred, possibly because the other ones on site are a bit big.

Cut off a 16+” chunk from a tree I felled and peeled yesterday, clamped it and cut the handle with a bow saw to the depth of the bow saw’s blade. Used a froe and mallet to take off material from the handle area. After that, a hatchet and my Morakniv to get it down in diameter comfy to hold and smooth it. Used the Japanese saw to remove some of the shavings too. A draw knife to knock down edges on the ends
Decided it was time to try out this BB after a passing RV took out a low hanging branch in front of where I work. I've been having trouble getting my hands on some round wood, so this was a nice little bit of good luck.
Here's the branch I cut from.
My starting stock. Each about 12" long.
After removing the bark and roughing out the handle. I opted for a tapered handle to reduce the stress concentration that 90 degree angles create.
