This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Roundwood Working.

It is rare to find a house or apartment where coasters aren’t present. Obviously simple wooden disks could suffice, but for this BB, you’ll be making them a little more interesting. Some design should be carved in relief or they should somehow otherwise be made more interesting than simple flat disks.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
Carve a minimum of 6 wooden disks.
Engrave a pattern or picture into the disks.
Make use of manual hand tools only.

To document and become certified for this BB provide photos or video (less than 2 minutes) showing the following:
- Show the uncarved disks
- Show a disk halfway through the process.
- Show the finished set of coasters.
