I got impatient waiting for my wood burner to arrive, so I used a magnifying glass.  I may go over again with the wood burner at some point to make it stand out a bit better and to stylize it.

Time-lapse of a bit of the burning:

I made a sign for The Library! These are progress pictures I took before oiling the sign!

This is a picture of me oiling the sign! I used raw linseed oil to oil the sign!

This is a picture of the sign after I screwed it into place above the doorway!

I made a sign yesterday!  I used some scrap cedar decking (5 1/4" wide by 20" long) and burned it with a soldering iron.  I'm not sure what you're supposed to use but that took forever.

We're naming our gates after the plants nearby.  So this is for Apricot Gate.  Which is also the entrance to our food forest.

Question:

I was wondering if I used a router and a torch if it would still count for this BB? As an example, I made a sign of the community "Brand a location" BB below:

If I were to make a sign in the same manner with the proper dimensions, and finish it with oil, would it count for the BB or do you need to use I proper wood burner?

Per the specs as I read them, that would count just fine!

Spider Hut needed a sign. Luckily enough, there's some abandoned lumber behind it. Talk about convenience!

I'm very new at this, and I wanted to make sure the sign would be legible from the fence... 40' or so. So I cut the letters into the wood first, then burned the edges of the letters (and the hairs on the spider).

My cheap-but-not wood burner fell apart as I was using it. User error is not out of the question, I was probably too heavy handed with it.

Trust the sign, it really is full of spiders.

Been waiting to post this one...

I made a sign for my Sister's garden for her birthday!

I've used an alternate way to burn letters for a sign. A small Fresnel lens from the dollar store. You do need sun to make it work.

All that thinking. Doesn't it hurt? What do you think about this tiny ad?
