Oh man i wish Otis could taste this!
2 cups basmati rice fried dry in bacon fat and olive oil
Then drowned in chicken stock add a little cumin cayenne pepper onion powder garlic powder oregano black pepper salt and chili oil
And the tiniest bit of mustard powder to make the oil  mix into the stock. Covered and allowed to steam until the stock is fully absorbed makes this frugal staple a meal for kings!
oh and don't forget to top with butter before serving!

I made “golden coconut rice” today, which is something I just made up.

I had some spices (ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, dates) left over from making golden milk earlier today, so I decided to reuse them in a decoction (simmered about 30 min) of the remaining coconut milk topped off with water as the rice cooking liquid.

I added salt, extra black pepper, and about a teaspoon of turmeric to the cooking liquid for flavor and to make it a pretty golden color.

On an electric stove.

1 c brown rice
1.75 c chicken broth
1 tb dried diced garlic

Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer 40 minutes.

Edit: autocorrect wrecked that sentence. Corrected.

2 1/2 cups brown rice, soaked overnight. Put in 2 litre pot with enough water to cover by around an inch. Brought to boil, then simmered for around half an hour, until the water was absorbed. Left to rest on the side of the woodstove until the stir fry BB I did was ready.
