For people in the midwestern U.S. I recommend Missouri's Wild Mushrooms by Maxine Stone.

Thank you so much! I will definitely be getting some mileage out of this.

Edit: I will post my results here when I map my properties.

Hello everyone!
My name is Jonah, I'm in my mid twenties and my wife and I (along with my brother and his girlfriend, our dog, seven cats, four chickens, a turkey, and a turtle!) have a house on 0.22 acres in suburban Saint Charles County, Missouri. I am in my third year of converting our yard from a near-monoculture of turf grass into an oasis of vegetable gardens and native trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses, with an emphasis on edible or otherwise useful plants. I work for the Missouri Department of Conservation, and have access to incredibly cheap tree and shrub seedlings as well as a group of coworkers that share plants with each other on a regular basis. I am also responsible for managing 17 acres of forest that my family owns in the Ozark hills of Washington County, MO that I am beginning to manage for silvopasture, forest farming, and wildlife habitat. I am currently working toward a Master of Science degree in Natural Resources from the University of Missouri with an emphasis in Agroforestry.

I have been lurking on these forums for several months now, and should have registered a long time ago. I have already gathered tons of ideas from these forums, and figured I should finally get around to sharing my own. At some point I will take decent pictures of my projects to share with everyone and seek your collective advice.

I look forward to picking all of your brains, and hope you will do the same to mine!

I do wash my jeans occassionally. Anywhere from twice a month if they get really dirty to 6 months or more for my nicer jeans that I don't wear while playing in the dirt. The people I tell think it is digusting, even though no one else has any idea. I'm glad to have some vindication!

Goldenrod is insect pollinated. Most people who think they are allergic to goldenrod are actually allergic to ragweed, myself included.
