I would welcome any comments, thoughts, and ideas. I have NEW videos as well that I should learn to edit before I post!!! I am still learning (thank goodness)!!

We love love love making homemade tamales. We are not professionals or anything, but we also would like to take our tamales to another level. After eating some that were pretty bland with tiny amounts of filling at our local farmers market...we said, "hmmm. Ours are flavorful, organic, vegan, and yummy". We found that we could grow Field/dent corn. We received our seeds from the yearly seed exchange here in Lawrence Kansas from a seed saving angel Diane Henry! These seeds are dated to the 1800's! Using this type of corn you can grind the corn for the Masa and use the husk for the tamales!!! Happy growing!!

Sounds like we are mostly doing the same thing and started round about the same time!!! I read that onion (or allium family) and peas do not like each other and something about aster not being liked in the pea guild! Hmm I dunno thought I would share that much! Happy to see your pictures!!

Hello. Maybe I am not posting in the right place? Ekk...At any rate. My beloved and I have started a pretty intensive Hugelkultur project and we were looking into showing you what we have done so far and what advice anyone has. right now we have 6 Hugelkultur structures. they seem to be about 4 feet tall and about 8 or more feet long. We also have included a children's area that will be fenced in so the tiny ones wont run off. So far three of the Hugelkulturs are mulched and planted with clover seeds. Some white clover others crimson clover. In Hugel bed 3 I have a pea guild. I don't even know if such a thing exists, but it hopefully does now!!! In this bed we have climbing peas, dwarf ground peas, 25 strawberries, parsley, carrots, spinach varieties, lettuces, early okra, red celery, and when the ground heats up more we will be planting daisies, cuckumbers and beans. We built a fairy trellis structure for the peas (and eventually) cucks and beans to climb. I have been extensively research companion plants so I am pretty confident in these guys growing together...however...it is pose to be a food forest hugelkultur and so far these plants will not be sufficient for future use. I was curious if I had anything to plant there that would go good with this guild and help satisfy the desire for sustainability. I do have pictures of what we are doing on my blog site http://christeeofthelight.blogspot.com/
I have some videos as well...but alas I do not quite know yet how to edit them...when I do I will keep you posted if there is interest. Thanks for reading this!!!
