Has anyone built a geodome greenhouse that was not a kit? I have an abundance of 4-5' lumber left over from my house build. I'd like to build a geodome greenhouse but I have been having a hard time finding a good hub connector that it's not going to cost me $6k in connectors to build it.  It seems as if the geodome people all want to sell you a kit and if they do sell the connectors they are massively overpriced. Any ideas?

I'm looking for non-plastic components so they will not degrade in the sun.

Ah yes, I saw this one while I have been looking. Alas, no welding tools or experience. Still looking for Metal hubs I can buy.

I saw this. The problem is, the only one of these listings that actually lists prices for connector hubs want around $6000 for a kit of connectors for a 30' dome! I'll keep looking.
The other dome companies I've talked to want you to buy a kit. They won't sell you the hub connectors. I don't want a kit...I have all the wood and foam and stuff already.

I have seen the hubs in the past, but haven't looked recently.

I will look again.  I have seen them made using scrap disk blades.

I have also seen it done with miter joints and plumbers tape for hurricane ties.
