Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and to
Permaculture. I live in Pontardulais, South Wales in the UK. I took on a full size plot allotment late last year and have started making
Hugelkultur beds on it. I'll post up some pisc later. I'll give a bit of background info on the plot. It's about 35 yards long and 13 yards wide at it's widest point, and narrows down to 3 yards at the other in the shape of a wedge as the plots are made up of a big circle. The plot hadn't been used or dug over for about 3 years and was over grown with thick deep rooted grass and weeds. It also has loads of overgrown raspberries and blackberries. The soil is quite nice, black not clayey or claggy and is pretty well drained. Ive started 2 beds at a right angle to each other with the intention of making a large square with a small
pond 8n the middle to hopefully attract frogs to help with the slugs and to create a constant
water source that will see into the HK beds. I'm thinking about replanting a lot of the fruit bushes into\on or around the beds along with dwarf fruit
trees with the intention of moving onto the plot becoming a HK food forest.
I'm using as much rabbit manure as I can for the internal
compost layers as I've read its good s#%t so to speak, lol. And will be using it as a mulch on the outside to.
Any thoughts and ideas will be much appreciated.
