The Duck Chronicles a Web Series

Lots of question here about raising ducks, switching from chickens to ducks, etc.

I enjoyed the videos very much!! Thanks for doing this. I feel better now about how my ducks act. I thought I was doing something wrong because they act like I am a monster...I feel reassured now that such behavior is quite normal. I also like how you spent time just sitting in their pen so they could learn to not be so afraid of you. Great idea.

I'm wondering about the feed you use. I don't have anything like that available here so I was wondering if you have info on the ingredients so I can see how possible it is to duplicate it to some extent. I want my birds to forage for most of their feed but I definitely want to get away from feeding them soy-based, GMO laden feed.

I like the cement blocks on the bottom of the fence posts. It was not clear whether the posts go into the ground. It seems if they extend below the blocks that the zip tie on the bottom wire could go around the post instead of the whole block. If I can get rice to grow in my ponds then next year I would like to have baby ducks to do the weeding. I have mostly the heavy T bar posts which are harder to drive and extract but I have used the light posts for flower beads using the plastic fence. Seems that would be easy to stack the blocks with the fence in a trailer and move it to the different ponds.
Thank you for sharing your innovations. The water trap in the brooder was also great.

My understanding is that the posts were driven as much into the ground as possible but because of rocks, not far enough which required the use of the cinder blocks to hold them better.

That said, I think you could use a similar method to make portable posts/fencing.

The posts on average go into the ground about 4 inches a few more like 2.
