We are all aware of Murphy's Law.  But there are others.  One of my favorites is Horowitz's First Law of the Admiralty: A collision at sea can ruin your entire day.

Which other laws of life can you share?

No matter when you last filled it, every grease gun is just a few pumps away from being empty.

"No good deed shall ever go unpunished."  A universal law I have found to be axiomatic in my life.  But rules are meant to be broken, right?

"If you push something hard enough, it will fall over" -- Fudd's law of opposition, which, according to Firesign Theater, led to the invention of the motor-operated pushover.

Hi Jack

I do believe in the rule regarding good deeds.  I also will continue to do them.

Herblock's Law: "If it's good, they'll stop making it."

Doug's corollary: "If said item is on final clearance, buy a lifetime supply. If it's in a thrift shop, grab with both hands."

From a knife sharpener, a Persian proverb, vaguely remembered: "A blade is not satisfied until it has tasted its owner." (Think about it -- devious wisdom here.)

It is odd.  I have met people whom don't 'get' that statement.  I tend to treat them somewhat suspiciously...
Staff note (John F Dean) :

When I was a CEO, that was a phrase I would pound into my new managers. ...not to get them to stop good deeds, but for them to realize there might be unintended consequences.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Allen's Law: Almost anything is easier to get into than get out of.

Edelstein's Advice: Don't worry about what other people think of you - They're too busy worrying about what you think of them.
