Congratulations on the system upgrade.  I like the new BB Submission option.  I hope it will allow non-staff to help with the certification process.  It took me a while to discover it because I usually "quote" the opening post so that I have the bb and posting requirements handy but I'm adjusting to the new process.

I have a question about photos.  Today I made a post with attached photos and after I hit "BB Submission" I took a look at my post and none of the photos were attached.  I edited the post and added them again and they showed up.  Is this bug?
Anyway, I was able to edit and upload photos but I was curious.

I just went to my post on Make a Stir Fry that I was waiting for certification and discovered that there were no photos.  I added them when I made the post but now I have BBV Price of 1 when it seems that the system deleted my photos on my initial submission.

I think I missed the rollout and would like more information.

I just posted a comment on a BB. I hit “submit” and not the new “submit for BB approval” button. When the post went live it was flagged as a BB submission needing approval.

Perhaps a glitch?

Thanks for reporting the issues!  The photos getting disappeared was fixed today by our developer.  So if that happens again, let us know!

I've reported your problem Michael and we're watching to see if it happens again.

As for the BBV "charges" we're also trying to get them adjustable to zero for cases like Opalyn's.  I went behind  the scenes and found a secret button to undo your BBV charge so you're now back at 0.  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to find that button

You’re welcome and thank you for the update.

I’m guessing that this is getting rolled out slowly since I didn’t have a bb submission button for make twine (textile).
Always something new to learn.

Good catch on the twine one!  I sent that up the line to the developers.  I don't know how to change it over but maybe they can direct me to the secret button for that.  If you find other ones that aren't set up for BB verification, let us know.

They are aware that if you reply to a BB thread or quote a BB thread, the "submit for BB verification" button doesn't show up.  It's not as easy to fix but it's on their list of to-dos...

The same thing happened to me with the photos not uploading when using the BB submission button a couple days ago. I edited the post to add the photos, but I don't know how to re-submit it.

BB submission flagged incomplete

I approved you manually and undid the BBV charge.  No word yet on when the software will allow us to change the thingie at the top of your posts...

New Glitch - maybe?
I submitted two BB today and neither of them have the "BB pending approval" note at the top that they did recently.
On the first one, I might have clicked reply instead of BB submission but I know that I hit BB Submission on #2.

I did "report" one of them so maybe it is already on the list.

A number of BB threads don't have the "submit for BB certification" option and I don't know how to change the thread over to that style.  I'm just waiting for direction from the wizards behind the curtain.  So for now, just hit submit and if we don't catch it in a couple days hit the report button.  Thanks!

With the new software, it is allowing for a BBV tallying system.  BBV means Badge Bit Verification.  When you approve a BB for someone else you'll get a BBV knocked off your ledger.  If you submit BB certifications that aren't complete or are on the edge, you may get BBVs added to your tally.  To get some badges in the future it may/will require you to have done a given number of BBVs.

So it's building towards a self sufficient PEP system that will require people pursuing it to verify BBs for people who are behind them in the journey.

It might be because their main/primary forum is something other than a PEP forum. So if it has the primary forum of "wiki" or "natural fibres," or something else, hit the report button and ask a moderator to "make PEP _____ forum it's primary forum and designate it as a PEP thread."

I ran across one like this and was able to fix it by making it's PEP forum the primary forum, so maybe doing that will fix the other threads, too?

I am experiencing the same problem.  This is on posts I made on desktop computer using Firefox browser. It was for the seed saving BB in Gardening Straw Badge.

It happened first with post permies.com/p/1180805 , and I noticed it was not marked as pending, so I tried submitting again as permies.com/p/1182149, and same thing happened.  I don't know if maybe the buttons are switched?

We had a recent development happen to fix some bugs, and maybe this is related. Thanks for bringing it up! I was wondering why I wasn't seeing any submitted for approval in a while!

Yes, all BB people, we are listening to you and looking at your pictures. But we have a transitional speed bump as we migrate to this new feature which will make all of our lives better.

I'm going to document how I submit a BB for certification as NONE of my recent submissions have had the "BB Pending Approval" note on them after I submit "for certification."

From the BB Page, I hit Post Reply.  Today I submitted Grease Hinges as an example.

Add text (copy and paste requirements and my intro)

Add Photos after I edit them in Gimp (an opensource photo editing software)

review/preview

Click "Submit for BB Certification"

Review finished post (sometimes I need to edit, but not today) It lacks the "Pending Approval Tag"

I'm wondering if the "Pending Approval" tag is missing because of this Stir Fry Post that is still tagged as "Incomplete"

Opalyn,

This is due to a temporary bug in the system. We plan to fix it within the next few hours.

I've been trying to get to grips with what the new system does and does not do.

Will it automatically pick up BB's that were done a long time ago?

It seems to be picking up that I have the BB5 badge. Is there a way of seeing, eg via my profile, which exact BB's I've done?

EDIT - I've just compared my phone view of the public profile to my laptop view. I can see the new info in my profile on the laptop, but not the phone.

I can see that the badges are there, but not the BB's. Is the info on the individual BB's able to be viewed in the profile? It would be a big help to be able to check what has and has not been done without trawling through threads with many many pages in some cases.

Nope. At least not yet. Right now, it takes manual efforts to convert old BB submissions to the new format.

When you go to your profile and click "Merit Badge profile", you can see a list of non-air badges, but right now, there is no way to see a list of all BBs.

Thanks. So should we be going through our past submissions and flagging them, or wait and assume they  will eventually be picked up over the next few weeks?

I'd vote for not flagging them until/unless it's requested.  The few moderators would get buried pretty quickly...

Thanks for keeping us updated and fixing the bugs.

I got here when trying to figure out what the “BBV” was on my incomplete BB. I understand the concept of trying to keep the work to a minimum for mods. Are we able to approve BBs yet as non-staff, or is there some threshold that must be met before that capability is given? Just want to “pay” my BBV price if I can.

BB verification is available to all.

To be able to verify someone's BB submission, you have to have completed that particular BB yourself, AND you must have obtained any non-air badge of that same aspect.

For example, you can verify someone's BB submission on wash dishes by hand only if you have completed that BB yourself AND you have obtained any "nest" badge except the air badge.
