Hello all. Last September we had a workshop to build an earthbag tiny house. In this blog post, I talk about my inspiration and some special considerations.

Thank you Joanna. There will be an article about the build in Mother Earth News in the next couple of months.

Great job on the build and I'm looking forward to your upcoming article! I've been investigating the pros & cons of earthbag homes in the Blue Ridge / East TN area so this is right up my alley.

Hello Gavin. One key thing in this area is to make sure you do your moisture barriers right and that you get some sun on your structure. Without those, a house can become a mold factory. Earthbags themselves don't mold (as long as they don't have much topsoil in them) but any organic matter such as straw or wood can certainly do so. That's the reason I chose earthbag over straw bale. I've heard of straw bale houses in our climate where the truth window only shows black mold.

After a year of hard work, my earthbag tiny house class is finally online! Some lessons are available as a free preview. Questions can be asked directly in each lesson. I hope to see you on there!
