Personally I love Petrichor against the blue background. But many people have jumped on the gray and white home decor bandwagon lately, and a mostly grayscale painting would probably look much better in homes like that than the one with the bright blue.
When you get a portfolio of paintings you are happy with, you could probably sell prints of them through a mass market art seller. Even if you don't get much commission per sale, they market widely so you might just discover you have a nice little additional income stream from something you love doing. Years ago I worked for a guy who owned an art gallery, and although he sold original paintings, he also sold giclee canvas prints mail order (framed or not) by artists who would send him new work every so often. I don't know what their financial agreement was, but I helped scan in the original paintings in hi-res sections and then put them together in photoshop, ready to be printed onto canvas in several different stock sizes, even custom sizes if a customer wanted to pay extra for that. His focus was themed, and chickens don't fit into that, but I'm sure there are many others who would happily add cool chicken artwork to their catalog. I just recently saw chicken art not so different from yours printed on kitchen towels for sale!
After I saw this thread, I went outside to see if I could get a good picture of Fishy Roo, my Salmon Faverolle rooster, for you to paint, but it was already starting to get dark and he just looked like a blob up in the lilac bush he loves to perch in. Maybe I can do better another day...
