We had kids who visited us over the holiday and we had so much fun playing Telephone Pictionary. We played the game in english and here are some of the funniest responses we saw.

A particularly silly and amusing group game I like is called slack jawed dance off. Two people face one another, letting their jaws hang slack and open. They must maintain eye contact at all times and keep their jaw slack. Both begin dancing in such a manner as to get the other person to laugh or smile. They must continue dancing the whole time and no talking. When one person cracks up or smiles, they have to step aside and make way for a new challenger.
Obviously, this one is not presently safe, in light of current circumstances. But it will be one day, so wanted to share before I forgot.

i’ve played this game a number of times in the past, and actually have a couple pages from it framed (though i couldn’t find them just now when i looked)...it doesn’t always happen this way, but a number of times we’ve been struck by how similar the drawings are, even when drawn by different people and from very different words...and now i really wish i could find those old ones. not enough people together this year to play this one...

Its called i believe Telephone Pictionary.

It is the hardest i have laughed.

So it seems to go well with 5+ people.

We use a 11 x 8 piece of paper.

so what you need is(if it was 5 people);
- 5 sheets of paper for 5 people
- 5 books or a hard surface to draw on
- 5 pens/pencils
- seated in a circle ish shape for ease of passing the paper to the next person

So the idea of the game is everyone starts out by writing out something(i will include an example) for the next person to their left or right.
Than after everyone has written down the sentence. the paper is passed.
Next person draws what the person wrote down, than folds the part where the written words are. So that the next person it gets passed to does not know what the original sentence was.
Than the next person writes out what the person previous to them thought the drawing was meant to be.

Rinse and repeat.

We have been doing it where if there are 5 people we move the paper 5 times. This usually is enough space for the paper to be fully utilized. Usually if you do it this way you end up with the paper which you originally wrote the sentence for.

Than the laughing begins!!

That is just excellent.  I love games that can be played anywhere with almost no materials and you can teach it in 2 minutes.  Bravo!  I can't wait to show this to my family.

This is very much like a game we play here called Skrump. In our version, the first person writes the start of a sentence with a subject and adjectives, folds the paper down and hands to the next person who writes the second half of the sentence with verbs and adverbs. The next person then gets to draw the entire sentence which is completely disjointed. Then the next person has to write an entire sentence based on the drawing, and so on back and forth. It's most fun to play with people who are good at the text parts coming up with sentences that are particularly hard to draw. By the time the paper makes one round it's hard to tell a single element of the original contribution. For instance "(The stiff road-killed opossum) (sauntered leisurely)." eventually morphed into "The crazed cat was ejected from his minivan when the idot driving the Lincoln Continental hit him head-on." Or "(A hirsute orangutan) (discuss Plato) turns into "The auctioneer took bids on the old schoolhouse even as it burned. Or "(The delicious pumpkin pie) (kissed Mother Superior's ring) eventually was "Three mesmerized Cossacks watched Dancing with the Stars while Granny Babushka baked buns in her brick oven." They provide laughs for years if you hang on to them. Even now I'm LMAO looking back at the pile of old games from many years ago.

Ha... ha.... ha... I laughed so hard at the examples you included. We have not had a tradition of playing games as a family mostly because there was just no time or people were too exhausted and ended up watching TV to relax. We have manged to create some free time and I am looking for zero cost things that are engaging for a family to enjoy. This is a game I am beginning with. We will probably play the game in Shona, but I will be sure to include the funniest paper we will get, here, and translate the Shona sentences into English.
