I’m harvesting dandelion greens, red clover, queen Ann’s lace, plantain etc from my yard.
My question is when I dry them should I store them separate or can I store them together and use them together?
I plan to make infusions, salves, teas and creams.
I’m also harvesting roots and wonder if I should keep them deprecate or if I can mix those with other roots and use them as a combination. They would be dandelion, plantain, chickory, queen Ann’s lace, burdock and mullein.
Can I get one of my older chickens or ducks to take care of the new chicks we just bought? Taking care of them in the sense of keeping them warm and whatever else a momma chicken might do?
Can you get in trouble with your health dept for going off grid? Off grid as in no utilities, no solar. Hand water pump. Like pioneers! Any experience in this? Or where to find information?
Thanks for the replies- I used a heat lamp on the water lines on the water heater. After awhile hot water started flowing and the clicking stopped!! Thank God!!
Our water froze today while all faucets were running. Water came back on but at the pressure switch it keeps clicking, like it’s constantly cycling. If I shut all the water off it stops. When I turn 1 or all faucets on - click click click click. The water flow even sounds like the clicks.
Any advice? Can’t keep water off or it will freeze again.
Hot water still not running. Maybe part of the issue? Ice stuck somewhere?
Any ideas?
We’re getting ready to get some more chickens and there’s hatcheries online, but not sure which one to use. We got chickens at tsc last year but they won’t have chicks for a while I don’t think.
Are you selling seeds that you’ve saved from the plants?
If so what steps do you take to save them? Wash and let dry?
Do you sell all year or mostly just spring?
I haven’t sold anything yet, just provided for our family with the garden, eggs and meat.
I plan to sell things this year.
What have you sold from your homestead or plan to sell?
On my homestead being frugal is usually the only option. So when things are made they are usually made quick and cheap and usually not of very good quality.
What have you diy’d or plan to? And what are your most repurposed items?
I use doors for lots of things- desks, shelves, loft bed, keeping chickens in, and flat surfaces, etc.
I’ve redneced a chicken run, with skids. They are free range now!
Next on the list- rabbit tractor and green house.
Any ideas on building a green house or pics or your diy green house?
