My husband and I seek fellow homesteaders to live in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath house on our 7-acre property, about 6 miles west of Beltline x Hwy 99 in west Eugene, Oregon (just south of the airport). The 1340 square foot house has a 2-car garage with a workshop area. The laundry room off the kitchen has an extensive pantry for canned goods storage. The house sits within a private fenced 1/4 acre, with an additional small private fenced vegetable garden. Its well has a strong flow of good (non-arsenic-tainted) water. The land has Class 2 Agricultural soil — its main limitation is its sogginess during winter. The local public schools are Meadow View and Willamette High School.
We live in another house on a back-to-back lot with this rental house. On the rest of the 7 acres I care for a milk cow, a steer and a calf (the number of bovines changes now and then), several domesticated turkeys as well as wild turkeys, and about 50-60 chickens. We have great crops of apples, pears, grapes, plums, raspberries and strawberries, all grown with no pesticides. The neighbors have sheep, occasional beef steers, and horses.
You could rent from us ($800 / month), or do work trade for some of the rent if you are a good fit for this situation. For the right people, we anticipate sharing the use of all 7 acres for homesteading projects. If this sounds like a possible good fit for you, please phone (541) 485-1699.
