This is a uniquely creative and flexible advanced permaculture design course. Our participant driven, self-directed program can be done from a distance and includes optional in person meet ups in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia every season for 30 months.

Delvin Solkinson is community gardener and plant poet dedicated to bringing creativity to the permaculture movement by creating free open source learning and teaching tools. He has completed a PDC, Diploma and Masters Degree with Bill Mollison and done advanced teacher trainings with many of the masters and maestras of permaculture internationally. He is an accredited teacher through the Permaculture Research Institute and a Field Mentor through the Permaculture Institute. Recently he completed a PDC in Portland with Toby Hemenway, one in Greece with Rosemary Morrow and a second Diploma through the Permaculture Institute. Currently he is doing graduate work under the mentorship of Larry Santoyo and Looby Macnamara. 
 
Kym Chi is a dedicated advocate of earth stewardship, people care and regenerative action for future resiliency. Deeply inspired by nature, art and experiential education, her main efforts are as a creative facilitator, artist, gardener, healer and community builder.  To date; Kym has received 3 certificates in Permaculture Design, completed multiple teacher trainings and taken a variety of advanced trainings.  She continues to take courses and is currently completing a Diploma in Education through the Permaculture Institute. Through her stewardship of a deepened connection with the natural environment, Kym wishes to inspire creative self expression that enriches lives, creating healthy and abundant habitats and communities. With a focus on Social Permaculture,  Kym also works for One Straw Society, a non profit focusing on food sovereignty and community resiliency on the Sunshine Coast.

I am joyed to announce my sixteenth Permaculture Design Certification Course. This low cost, ultra flexible program meets one day a month for 14 months. There is a sunday and a monday course which are staggered by one month that people can bounce between for ease of flow. The program is modular and there is no time limit to complete the certificate. Missed classes can be done at no extra cost with any of my other classes. By jumping between classes it is possible to do all the units in the Vancouver Area or all the units on the Sunshine Coast.

The program has been developed over the course of two Diplomas and a Masters Degree in Permaculture Education and continually upgraded over the 12 years it has been offered. Together we travel to many different permaculture farms, gardens and forest locations while sharing in a uniquely creative learning journey. The year long focus project is a map and design for where you live or an area of your choice. I am a registered teacher and offer legit and formal certificates through Permaculture Institute USA and Permaculture Research Institute.

The course is very flexible with busy lives and organized modularly. If you miss a class you can jump in on the the same module in a different class at no extra cost. We meet one day a month from September or October 2014 and run to December 2014 or January 2015. This also opens the option for those from further afield to do two days in a row every second month.There is no time limit to complete the course and if you miss any classes you can do them in the future with other groups at no extra cost.

Join a group of conscious learners in a free introduction to permaculture day in the Heart Gardens, Gumboot Gardens, Elphinstone Rainforest and Mandala Beach of Roberts Creek. Pilgrimage in carpools to the Sunshine Coast, a short ferry ride from Vancouver, to experience an unique and creative introduction to the permaculture paradigm.

We are so stoked for the Permaculture Teacher Training in Calgary Alberta with the Epic Michael Becker. Michael is an inspiring Middle School Teacher from Hood River Oregon who has transformed his classroom into a Permaculture demonstration site through teaching the traditional curriculum Permaculture style.

optional in person meet ups in BC :

i run a seasonal in-person meet ups for an Advanced Permaculture Course
these are optional and open to any students i am mentoring at no additional cost
this gives participants a chance to share with a supportive group what they have been doing
visit different permaculture farms, forests and community gardens
have a permie potluck, view new media and have teaching practice
some may never come to these optional meet ups or some might just come to one at some point in the 2 1/2 year study

The advanced course is $555. ($655 with extended payment plan)

Diploma Mentorship Program Details

this is an optional part of the Advanced Course that can be stacked at the same time for those that wish to participate

the core program includes support for 2 1/2 years (10 seasons - 30 months)

developing a Learning Pathway Plan with support by email
short monthly email report check in's to reflect a monthly journal documenting all progress
support by email to write a Diploma Report at the end of the process
when i write you a Letter of Recommendation and submit a Mentorship Report recommending you for the Diploma
(estimated 30 hours + of mentorship support) 

i inspire students to be open and creative
and encourage people to have a focus project
in alignment with the area of interest they intend to do for their Diploma

i also ask that students i mentor all do at least one map, design, and site development

the minimum hours for a Diploma is 2040, if you want to have your diploma in two categories the hours would be 2540. All documented work done since graduating with your PDC can count towards a Diploma.

the mentorship support from me is included in our program already
and there is also a $75 yearly registration fee to Permaculture Institute USA
and a $425 fee to them at the end of the process to have them review your Diploma Report

Permaculture Design Certification Course

A short ferry from Vancouver in the tiny village of Roberts Creek comes a unique, low-cost, flexibly scheduled Permaculture Design Course. Meeting once a month over fourteen months in locations on the Sunshine Coast and Greater Vancouver area, the class caters anyone who wants to learn permaculture but cannot afford the cost or intensive time commitment of other courses including lower-income families, students, youth and people for who are called permaculture but have been struggling to find a course that fits their life.

Join this adventure in learning as it journeys to eco-locations like the Heart Gardens, UBC Farm, The Frogs Hollow, Rolling Earth, Country Haven, Compost Education Center, Loutet Farm, Sole Food, Old Growth Forest sites and the properties of students who want to host. 

The course is very flexible with busy lives and organized modularly. If you miss a class you can jump in on the the same module in a different class at no extra cost. I am running two courses concurrently to allow for even more flowing make up classes, one starts in late May and one in Late June. 

A small ring of learners will meet up once a month in the Greater Vancouver and Elphinstone Rainforest to learn about how nature designs itself and how we can become sustainable designers ourselves. Together we will learn how to map and design our land and our lives, plan for emergency, grow organic food in all four seasons and work to build a more sustainable future. The certification granted upon completion of the course will empower participants as  permaculture designers, consultants and beginner teachers able to use the word permaculture legally in their practice, business or project. This sustainability education eco-training certificate is a practical path for greening your life, resume and portfolio. 

Course Topics include:
design methods * patterns in nature * soils and composting * water * trees * design for cool , tropical and arid climates * social permaculture * native food and medicine plants of the Coastal First Peoples and much much more. We have worksheets, permaculture design gaming tools, an online social networking and educational support platform, as well as hundreds of gardens as our living classroom.

We meet one day a month from January 2013 to March 2014. I will run a monday and a tuesday class staggered by one month so if you miss a day you have a chance to do the same module with the other group. There is no time limit to complete the course and if you miss any classes you can do them in the future with other groups at no extra cost.
