Oh man, I am so impressed with this foraging book I've just gotten in the mail that I wanted to share it here. Maybe it's really popular and everyone knows about it and this is not new information but the book is "nature's garden" by samuel thayer. If you live in America, and especially if you live in the midwest or central-eastern part of the country and love foraging- you gotta check it out. It's a book for the active forager, though, definitely not the armchair forager. So pleased!

Live consciously in all of it. There is no fear of death because there is no death. It's just a transformation. And yet seeing all that, you still chop wood & carry water. You still do your thing. You flow in harmony with the universe. ~Ram Dass

Samuel Thayer's other book "The Forager's Harvest" was my first wild plant book. He's really good. I highly recommend his work. "Nature's Garden" is worth it for the chapter on acorns alone.

Right?! I counted I believe about 50 pages on acorns alone. I would prefer to be 100% about the identity of forty wild edibles than I would 98% on 100 species, you know? His book is awesome, I will check out the first one too

I just read both of Samuel Thayer's books last week thanks to my local library system and I will be purchasing them both soon. Fantastic books!
