on Homesteading Today forums, a couple of weeks ago, someone gave an address where you could write and get free seeds, no questions asked (2009 seeds).

Well i wrote a nice little note and got an envelope priority mail today that was stuffed to the gills full of free seed packets..there were a few doubles or triples but mostly just a really good variety of seeds..all either vegetables or herbs, no flowers..edibles.

I got 56 packets and doubles on a couple and triples on 2..but a good selection over the gamut of seeds, all seeds i can use.

they do say if you can give a donation..but otherwise they'll still send you seeds.

well i am grateful so i 'll send a donation next week..how wonderful..my garden runneth over with blessings.

the address is

The Seed Corps
po box 1705
Santa rosa,  Caliof 95402

Well with the forcast that we have for hot and dry, I soaked the garden for 2 to 3 hours each day with the soaker hose over the past week so i could plant every other day. Yesterrday Michigan broke a record again for being the hottest place in the united states..go figure..that isn't right.
Anyway, I got most of my seeds planted, some i'm saving for a fall garden planting, but man i got a lot lot lot of seeds planted out in my gardens, around my trees and perennials in all the bare spots of soil.

so so far I have plante: anise, 2 kinds of bush beans, basil, bulls blood beets, broccoli, 3 kinds of cabbage, caraway, wong bok chinese cabbage, several differnt kinds of carrots including solar yellow, caulliflower, chives and garlic chives, 2 kinds of sweet corn, collards, swiss card, a whole bunch of varieties of cucumber, florence fennel, dill, greek oregano, russian red kale and another kale, 2 kinds of kohlrabi (never did get any rutabaga or turnip seeds),gobs of mixed lettuce and mesclun seeds, tendergreen mustard, pak choi, parsley, (have lots of other herbs already in), 5 kinds of pumpknis, peas and snap peas, peppers and tomatoes, way too many of those, spinach (just ate some today),4 kinds of summer squash, spaghetti squash and 7 kinds of winter squash, summer savory, tarragon, and 2 kinds of watermelon.

still have a gob of seed for a fall garden and some to save for next year..the garden isn't big enough for everything

So if I wrote a letter to them saying "Hello, I am a young person interested in gardening. I heard that you give out seeds. Could you please send me some?" (of course, the actual letter would be nicer) they would give me free seeds?

they will if they have any left, the first people I heard from were getting 100 packets..the last people I heard from were getting 30 packets..so take a chance and write to them.
