I got to this thread via Paul's email, and I've followed the link to the promotion rules but I'm still a little unclear on where I need to post to be considered entered in the promotion. What thread is being promoted and/or counts?

For this promotion you can post anywhere in the main permaculture forum *except* this thread, which soon gets too cluttered for anyone to make any sense of if there are a dozen different questions jumbled up with answers. If I find a question for Looby in here, I'll try to move it out to its own thread before things get too crazy.

The review looks intriguing. I always looked at ways to integrate permaculture and people. Until now, tools like Non violente communication, sociocracy ... where giving hints. I m curious to read this book to hopefully get e more bigger picture.

I read the staff review and think wow what a great review it is. It sound like this should be mandatory reading. I am as I type dealing with many of the topics outlined in the review on my health and my spouses health for an important one. I have been neglecting mine and trying to concentrate on hers to no avail. Sounds like great advice or even a code to live by. Thank you for the beautiful review. This site that Paul has is a wonderful wealth of information and I have ordered all of Sepp Holder's books and several others finding reviews and podcasts on all that I have discovered here. Always ordering through this site's Amazon's links to help Paul's financial needs so that this site can continue with all of the most wonderful import information here. I will have to order Looby's book when I make another order. Almost 50 and still learning life's lessons and being reminded of the one's long forgotten. Thankfully there's still an abundance of beautiful people that are willing to share and help teach others of the greatness that is available in this world. Thank you Paul, Looby and others for the opportunity to be a little better everyday. I must get better so that I can help the many. Thanks again. Welcome to the forum Looby. I live in Colorado Springs, CO Zone 5-B. I am slowly working on some permaculture ideas for my place. Maybe your book has some suggestions for high semi-arid zones currently in drought?

Welcome. I am very curious to check out your book and your site. And even more curious to know how you people who live a more or less self-sufficient life find all the time to keep blogs and websites updated. I hardly manage all the work on the farm and at night fall into bed without being able to do anything else but sleep. I have a farm with 20 hectares, 15 donkeys, 20 goats, 450 olive trees, woods, fields and a big veg garden.

Hi all,
its great to hear from so many people into permaculture around the world. One of the aims of the book is to make this way of thinking more accessible and relevant to people in their everyday lives and shift from permaculture just being for people who have land. The book has the potential to really expand the use of permaculture into every corner of our personal lives, our communities and help humanity in every way possible - which is I am guessing the vision for all of us involved in permaculture.
Am interested to hear from people what their highest vision for permaculture and humanity is. By voicing it we can help bring it into reality.

Well, people here are not self-sufficient but looking for a way, thus for information, or give it when they have.
And right, I work less, so I will come less here...

Looby will certainly tell how permaculture is NOT being self-sufficient on one's own,
..but with others!
And we all know how easy this is!

(TST deals with the relationship with people that do not volunteer to be in the relationship! How do you relate with a pesticide-lover in the surroundings...)

Sorry Sidney - my book doesn't cover land permaculture - it looks at how we can use it in every day life. It does provide useful information on design that you could then use for your own place if you wanted - although there are other books that will help you more with land based design such as Aranya's Permaculture Design.

There are many many tools that are useful in our permaculture people designs, just as there are many gardening techniques that we can use in our designs. It is about incorporating the ethics, principles and bringing them together in a design.

Thanks everyone for your interest in People & Permaculture this week. It has been fun to see what interest there is and to hear about what people might have expected to find in the book. I am pretty certain you will all find some surprises and enlightening moments. Almost certainly you will have had your own ideas that maybe aren't represented in the book as well - there are still many growing edges for people & permaculture.
In between writing these posts and tending to my family needs I have been planning the second ever People & Permaculture Design course which is happening in the UK in November - there is quite an international group converging for it. We have been organising the timetable around the design web from my book. The design web is a new permaculture framework that I created particularly for people based designs. We will be taking people through a design on themselves as well as having a final design activity. The first course we did was so much fun and empowering for everyone. There is a short video from the course participants on my webpage below.

There are still a few places left if anyone feels drawn to exploring people & permaculture more. I am also organising the next course in Belgium in May next year - details to come.
