I have been raising cantaloupes to sell now for three years..Have not had much luck.In 2011 it was so hot and dry the cantaloupe died off. This year I have plenty of water and lot more know how on growing cantaloupes. Now I need to advise on getting people to buy them.and how much to sell them for I'm in Texas.I was thinking of finding a whole sell buyer.but do not know where to look

You might try a farmers market. but that will not move a large quantity.

You might try the grocery stores: lately it has been popular to put out a box of melons with the sign "Locally grown".

Lastly, when I was selling my blackberries I left some on consignment: If they sold good and I got paid, if they didn't then i would pick up the unsold fruit.

I was never big enough to go the wholesale route: might your extension agent be of help?

I know for a fact that Walmart buys locally grown produce at times.
