Permaculture on Family Farms

Mar. 3rd Saturday from 1pm to 4pm

Joel Kellum of King's Hill Farm began as an intern at Prairie Dock Farm in Whitewater in 1996. He continued working with Avalanche Organics as a farm partner from 1997-2007 on the Kickapoo River near Viola. In 2007, times shifted on the Kickapoo River and the floods washed the Kellum family to Kings Hill Farm in Mineral Point. In 2008, Joel looked to understand sustainable care of the land and became certified in Advance Permaculture Training for Teaching Permaculture. This knowledge led Joel to a new way of looking at the fields. He then planted a 7 acre edible forest and integrated these values into how he plans the vegetable fields.
