I was wondering if anyone here has been using this type of frig and what they think about it's daily use/convenience...?

I have a similar setup. Nothing digital though. I like it except when it gets humid here, we get a lot of water condensing on the walls and puddling on the bottom. Good thing there is a drain. If you are used to the dryness of modern refrigerators this may take some getting used to. And ours uses so little AC that it is ridicules. I don't remember the numbers on ours from this last summer, but it was impressive. And we have ours sitting in a dark blue cargo trailer here in NE TX. We had highs last summer of 113 F. And it used little electricity and never had trouble.

Alan,
If you had the frig. in a more controlled environment, like your kitchen or utility room, maybe the condensation would be much less...(?)
When I find my home I think I might try it, to keep the electricity bill low.

I suppose if my house were climate controlled. But then I wouldn't be reducing my electric usage then. But yes, I would think if you took the humidity out with A/C you could fix that!

I didn't click on the link but if it's the one where you make a frig out of a chest freezer using a beer cooler thermostat that turns the freezer off and on, yes I did that.
I have to say, it was kind of a drag. It's just much harder to find things/organize a chest freezer than a regular frig. I haven't done the math on this but it seemed better to have a small chest freezer to freeze blocks of ice and then stick the ice in the fridge section of my 12V sunfrost which doesn't ever seem to get cooler than a not so safe 50. Not sure what the problem is but it's at least 15 years old (but it never did a great job of keeping things cold). The (incredibly) small freezer does work fine.
ATM, I have a cooler in my mud room which I'm using instead of a fridge.
