howdy all!
some good friends and myself are in the process of application for a chunk of land up here in navada county Ca. we have this crazy dream of building beam framed, bottle house (glass bottle+mortar), greenhouses but are finding very little evidence of many folks doing this. has anybody tried this? we found lots of info on building green houses with plastic bottles but we are not into plastics and are looking to build something more permanent and rocket stove friendly. so what do yall think?
many blessings

Will you also use plenty of sheet glass ? Patio door glass is tempered and suitable overhead. Plate glass from renovations would work for walls. Both products come up for free regularly.

i was thinking of perhaps adding panels of plate glass in the overhead but would still like to focus on using as much bottle stacking as possible. when i was a young boy my granddad had a greenhouse built onto the house from old insulated glass from the curb and i just remembered having alot of trouble keeping it warm, and also lots of problems with the sealing of the glass which ended up with moisture and mold between the insulated panels. perhaps these worries are unfounded, i am sure we will end up trying afew different things as we will have the room to do so. another question i was wondering is light penetration of bottle walls? do ya thing there is enough light coming through to make a good greenhouse?
