WOODINVILLE – Transition Woodinville invites the community to attend an informal night of chocolate, music and learning about Woodinville’s own Transition Town movement. This first annual All Member Meeting: The Ingredients of Transition will be held on Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Sammamish Valley Grange and is free and open to the public.
Opening the evening are local performers Narayan and Janet; a duo known for original songs that are described as “a delicious blend of jazz, R&B, world music, Beatles and Sanskrit mantras.”
Member and volunteer Peter Poirier sums up the Transition group by explaining, “we are an active, local community group interested in energy conservation, promoting access to local, sustainable food, and building resilient community to withstand growing economic instability.”
In addition to sharing music and chocolate with the community, the All Member meeting is a way for those who have perhaps only met online (through the group’s social networking site) to meet and connect in person. Two books from the international Transition Town movement will also be discussed, Transition Woodinville’s past and current projects will be highlighted, followed by an interactive survey to brainstorm new ideas for going forward.

About Transition Woodinville:

Transition Woodinville’s mission is to build a more cohesive, self-reliant and resilient Woodinville community through positive solutions, celebration and education.
Transition Woodinville’s vision is choosing hope and resilience in times of uncertainty and change.
Sponsored by the Sammamish Valley Grange, Transition Woodinville is part of an international movement that initiates community discussions, projects and events regarding alternative energy solutions in response to peak oil, sustainability choices and projects in response to climate change, and localization and local fresh food in response to multiple global and economic issues. Transition initiatives, based on the work of Rob Hopkins, author of The Transition Handbook and The Transition Companion, focus on positive solutions and tapping into the creative genius of community that goes beyond the polarization of politics as usual.

There are no experts, Just people with more experience.
