Remember when you could walk down the middle of a street, pausing to visit with friends and neighbors, without worrying about cars? Have you ever wanted to just take in the view of the canyon from the middle of the Higgins Avenue bridge? Want to know what Higgins Avenue would look, sound and feel like if it was closed to cars and open for FUN for most of a beautiful Missoula Sunday? You will get your chance to do all of that, and more at the upcoming Sunday Streets Missoula. In June, over 6,000 people trekked down to Higgins Avenue to find out just how much fun they could have on a street completely open for biking and walking. On Sunday, September 11, Sunday Streets comes back to Higgins Avenue from 10 am to 4pm, brought to you by the Downtown Business Improvement District of Missoula, Missoula In Motion and Missoula Parks and Recreation.
Sunday Streets Missoula is a FREE community event providing a venue for fun, spontaneous, on-street activities, shopping and dining in Downtown Missoula. Over 60 businesses and organizations will be presenting events and activities on Higgins, down 4th St., and into Toole Park throughout the day. While most will be ongoing, there are a few things happening only at specific times. Please use the guide below to plan your day:

“We’re looking forward to the excitement and energy downtown what with Sunday Streets, Germanfest and the Hip Strip Block Party all going on. It’s great to see so many things happening on the same day—the crowds really build on each other,” said Leah Morrow, owner of Selvedge Studio.
As Higgins will be closed to vehicles, Downtown can be accessed via Madison and Orange with ample free parking available in Central Park (access via Ryman), Bank Street Lot (access via Patee), lots along the riverfront (access via Ryman and/or Patee), and all on-street lots and spaces. Broadway will remain open throughout the event.
