Does anyone know where I could get my hands on a cultivar most suitable for consumption? Ornamental cannas are practically a weed on my place after I introduced them several years ago. I can't kill them so I might as well utilize themand plant some that are most sutiable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canna_Agriculture_Group

You will want to look for Canna edulis (common name Achira). I'd recommend getting some rhizomes from someone (not seed) and giving them a whirl.

If you have trouble finding someone with rhizomes you can order them from http://karcheskycanna.com/ (be aware that they list them as "Anchiras" instead of "Achiras").
