what happened to bush beans?

so for the THIRD seed packet in a ROW that said "bush beans" have grown out big 3 foot long vines! these are all different varieties from two different suppliers. Are they starting to call them bush beans if they just don't get to 6' ? the only ones I have planted this year that have turned out to be the good old fashioned compact bush beans are my good old reliable yellow wax beans. grrrrrr. thats what I get for trying new stuff.

I was thinking that I had not yet considered that they may be growing extra large due to the conditions. Maybe whatever I have done to the soil they really really like and they are just growing extra large because of that?

Next year, why not prune some of them while they're still small, and see if you get shorter, bushier plants? Just a thought.

I might try that. Its just strange. I have never had this problem in years past except for last year. I marked the package (leftover) that it was really a pole bean, contrary to what it states so I was forewarned. I tore them out because they weren't in a suitable pole bean spot so never really found out how long the vines got. This year of course they didn't really reach pole bean height (my poles would reach 8' or more) but they sure as heck were longer than any bush bean I have seen.
