Vermont compost and Intervale compost need your help.  Both progressive compost facilities here in Vermont are under attack by our state government.  click these links for more information: http://vermontcompost.com/ and  http://www.reformer.com/ci_9956614?source=most_emailed
Please call or write to our stupid Governor and tell him you support our composting facilities and he should cease and disist in his actions to close them down.
Oh ya, did I mention that the governors brother in lawn happens to own the competitors composting facility in Middlebury and that in Vermont we have a company called Omya.

The state is applying uneven "justice" in this instance. By refusing to allow Vermont Compost Company's first appeal to be considered before imposing the cease and desist the state denied due process. If Vermonters are to follow the laws, why doesn't state have a responsibility to apply consistent enforcement measures? OMYA has been operating in violation of the law, has been proven to pollute neighbors' wells with arsenic and manganese but has been allowed them to keep operating. VCC's environmental and neighborhood impact cannot even be compared to that of OMYA, yet here they are with the C&D.

Call or write governor Douglas today:  http://governor.vermont.gov/index.shtml
Don't let them bully you because you 're contacting them from out of state.  You buy these products from us all the time and it matters to you that we can continue to provide them to you and environmental issues are not local.  They effect everyone.   John

Thanks for the tip.  I'll look into it.
We have worked with Organic Consumers Union to put out an action alert.  Anyone can participate.  Here's the link for that: http://www.organicconsumers.org/state/VT.cfm

Vermont Compost going under because of corrupt government is a sad thing for all the people who work there and who depend on their products.  We sell some of their products online but that business pales in comparison to the hundreds of farms that will be adversely effected if their products aren't available. For some farms it will mean going out of business as they use their products exclusively as soil inputs and management tools.

Here's another link to help give you more insight into this issue.
