Do any of you give your animals Redmond Natural Trace Mineral Salt? Is it the same as the All Natural Real Salt they make? This is what we use in the kitchen. Just wondering if the 2 are the same thing just one packaged for animal use & the other for human use.

Edited later to add:

I found out that the 2 are the same. What I use for table salt is the smaller screenings of the larger stuff.

does the animal version have a breakdown as to the mineral content? I'm always looking for a better mineral source for my goats.

Here's a link to their website. It gives the analysis for all their products.

There are no dealers near me so I've written the company to see if I can order from them.

It be a very poor choice as a mineral supplement.  The salt content is around 90% on all their loose minerals which makes it way way to high to use as any meaningful mineral supplement.

For comparison the mineral I use now has 14% salt and 1350ppm copper.

Their best loose mineral has 90% salt and 300ppm copper.

The high salt content limits consumption to the point that the amount of copper (as an example) consumed  would be so small as to be pointless.

wanted to add fyi. salt is combined with minerals for animals because there have been no proven studies showing that animals can self regulate anything but salt. They crave salt when they need it but they do not crave, for instance, magnesium or pottasium or copper rich foods or supplements when they need it. So it is very important that your salt mineral supplement have balanced ratios of all the minerals in comparison to the salt and each other. Other factors to consider are enviromental conditions. If your water has a high iron content or your animals are drinking out of old zinc plated troughs the excess of those minerals in the rest of their diet can interfere with the absorption of others in the mineral or feed. you can for instance be using a good supplemental copper around here but but still have deficient animals  because the iron in the water binds to it and prevents its absorption. here is an interesting chart showing  some mineral interactions.
